Medical school is not rocket science. Neither is it a road to riches, any more. It takes four years (then 3-8 more for a residency, then maybe 1-2 for a fellowship), and this is the typical schedule:

post-acceptance: party
First year: adjust to heavy science workload, desensitize to gore
Second year: become more efficient and jaded
Third year: now that you are working with patients, remember why you are doing all of this after they sucked your will the first two years. Lose much sleep.
Fourth year: relax until you suddenly realize you have to decide what specialty appeals to you, then interview like crazy. Party post-match, with intern year a hovering.
