MAXine is the codename for the DECstation 5000/xx series of MIPS R3000-based computers made by DEC in the early 1990's. MAXines were also called Personal DECstations.

The other DECstation 5000 models, such as the DECstation 5000/200, had less interesting codenames such as 3MAX, 3MIN, and 3MAX+.

In 1992, the MAXine (in particular, the DECstation 5000/25) was one of the first color X11 workstations widely deployed in MIT's Athena clusters. However, some small number of color IBM RTs had been previously placed in a few clusters. During the first few months of their deployment, a large portion of the MAXines exhibited hard drive failures across power cyclings.
