Marvin Minsky is the Toshiba Professor of Media Arts and Sciences and the Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the
MIT.
He is also involved with nanotechnology having written the foreword to K. Eric Drexler's book Engines of Creation and having been Drexler's supervisor for his PhD in Molecular Nanotechnology (1991).
He is on the board of advisors of the Foresight Institute which Drexler created to provide a non-profit organisation that help prepare society for anticipated advanced technologies. Particularly they are trying to encourage intelligent and safe development of nanotechnology.
