Mark Sandman was the frontman for the beatnik-jazz band Morphine. He died in Summer 1999 in Italy of an apparent heart failure at the age of 42. This may sound like a short life, but bear in mind that he was a heroin addict. He sang and played a two-string slide bass guitar.
