Amblyrhncus cristatus:
Galapagos Marine Iguana. There are several poorly defined sub-species, each found on separate islands of the Galapagos. Largest adult size is over 5 feet, although this varies between sub-species. This species is the only exclusively marine lizard, feeding on marine alga from rocks. They are well adapted for diving ir these turbulent waters, and their short snout, and powerful jaws are well suited to their feeding style. The species have long been protected in their natural ranges, and their dietary requirements would make them poor candidates for captive husbandry.
