Movie-within-a-movie featured in the 1993 film "Matinee" as a dead-on send-up of the atomic monster movies of the 1950s and '60s. Promoted as "Half-Man, Half-Ant, All-Terror!", the schlocky B-movie was produced by horror promoter Lawrence Woolsey (played by John Goodman) and released during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. In addition to a fairly goofy plot concerning a man who is slowly turning into a giant ant, the film featured a number of in-theater special effects, including men in rubber monster suits, an earthquake simulator, and the radioactive glories of "Atomo-Vision". Joe Dante, who directed "Matinee", has been urged to complete "Mant" and release it as a real movie. Keep your fingers crossed...
