Common acronym for minimum purchasing age, the age at which purchasing alcoholic beverages becomes legal. Note that a distinction between drinking and purchasing alcohol age requirements is relatively common in Europe -- this allows for individuals to drink alcoholic beverages under the supervision of their parents while still not being able to buy their own.
