(Greek: "the crooked one", from loxos, "bent, crooked")

One of the bynames of Apollo, used at his temple at Delphi, particularly in connection with oracular responses. Apollo is "crooked" because his oracles are hard to understand.

Heraklitos expressed it thus: "He whose oracle is at Delphi neither reveals nor conceals, but hints."
