Jazz standard by Cole Porter. Made famous by Marlene Dietrich.

A superb cover was recorded by the Miles Davis Sextet on 26 May 1958, with:

Miles Davis, trumpet
John Coltrane, tenor sax
Cannonball Adderley, alto sax
Bill Evans, piano
Paul Chambers, bass
Jimmy Cobb, drums

Available on Circle In The Round (Columbia) and an .mp3 near you. Bill Evans gives one of the coolest, most succinct, piano solos I've ever heard in this take. From Sy Johnson's original notes:

He (pianist Bill Evans) told me that (bassist) Paul Chambers and (drummer) Jimmy Cobb were getting edgy having to hold back, and wanted to cook on something. Miles just turned and said, 'Love for Sale,' and kicked it off.
I always pay attention to the rhythm section so for me it's a treat; plus how often do you get to hear Coltrane have the least impressive solo?

Though that version is an instrumental, for completeness here's the lyric:

Love for sale,
Appetizing young love for sale,
Love that's fresh and still unspoiled,
Love that's only slightly soiled,
Love for sale!

Who will buy?
Who would like to sample our supply?
Who's prepared to pay the price
For a trip to paradise?
Love for sale!

Let the poets pipe of love,
In their childish way,
We know every type of love,
Better far than they;
If you want the thrill of love,
We've been through the mill of love,
Old love, new love,
Every love but true love!

Love for sale!
Appetizing young love for sale,
If you want to buy our wares,
Follow us and climb the stairs;
Love for sale!
