He (pianist Bill Evans) told me that (bassist) Paul Chambers and (drummer) Jimmy Cobb were getting edgy having to hold back, and wanted to cook on something. Miles just turned and said, 'Love for Sale,' and kicked it off.
I always pay attention to the
rhythm section so for me it's a treat; plus how often do you get to hear Coltrane have the
least impressive solo?
