A classic adventure is reborn for a new age: Based on the original D&D module Keep on the Borderlands by Gary Gygax, Jolly R. Blackburn of Kenzer and Company revived it as the first Hackmaster module, providing an excellent introductory adventure (Levels 1-4) for all Hackers. And it is a beauty from cover to finish. In parody of the original cover, the central image features an adventuring party's "exciting" encounter with an owlbear.

Expanded to a miniature campaign setting with a glorious 140 pages and adapted to Garweeze Wurld this adventure is not for the meek of heart as the heroes are requested to join the forces of the Little Keep of the Borderlands and defend it against the evil hordes that live beyond. The adventure is well written and built, the dungeons make more sense than most, and the encounters are nicely fleshed out

About half the pages in this tome are devoted to the adventure proper, while the other half consists of the appendices, such as NPC descriptions, Battle Sheets, maps and handouts.Add to that the two full cover maps and the fresh writing of Hackmaster, and you have a winner. Owners of the original will be able to appreciate the subtle parodies and additional material, while new players will "just" be able to enjoy this classic for the first time.
