One of the earliest
prose accounts in
English of the rise and fall of the
legendary King Arthur and the
Knights of the the Round Table, the massive work was completed by
Thomas Malory ca. 1470. The work was typically published in two
volumes and separated into books and chapters by
William Caxton, who explains how he came across the "history" in his preface.
