A rather new field, Landscape Ecology focuses on the ecology of areas on a landscape scale. This field focuses on such concepts as corridors and patches of habitat, and the interaction of plants and animals in these habitats. Because humans are a large part of the Earth's landscape, this field also focuses a lot on human impacts to ecology, and how they can be reduced or transformed into a more favorable form. For instance, instead of creating disjunct, scattered wildlife preserves, we should create larger ones (to negate edge effects) and link them with corridors. Also, the urban boundary can be 'blended' into agricultural and natural land, blurring the useless boundaries we set between these types of land.
