Λαμψακη

The daughter of Mandron, king of the Bebryces, who ruled in the town then called Pityusa. In the absence of the king, some settlers from Phocis whom he had established there were about to be massacred by the inhabitants, who had formed a conspiracy against them. Lampsace warned the settlers secretly and they succeeded in killing all the natives and taking possession of the town. At that point, Lampsace died; they gave her divine honours and thereafter called the town Lampsacus.
