In linguistics ,a term meaning "second language", a language you learn after you already command another language. This is opposed to L1, your "first language". Your L1 is your mother tongue, your native speech.

In GPS terminology, L2 is the secondary L band signal radiated by each NAVSTAR satellite at 1227.60 Mhz and is modulated with the military P code and the NAV message.
