Kyosho is a Japanese company specialising in the manufacture radio control vehicles, including boats, cars and planes.

It has a good reputation, but not as good as, say, Tamiya. In certain areas, they are leaders of their field; in particular their 1/8 scale nitro buggies, especially the Inferno series, have an excellent reputation and have been world champions for several years in that category. On the other hand, their low-end models are regarded as being little better than the toys made by Tyco, and have a reputation for being brittle.

kyosho had a strong rep with professional racers for several years after joel johnson's Kyosho Ultima took 1st place in 2WD modified class at the 1987 IFMAR world championship. the high quality racing chassis of the Kyosho Ultima was a top contender at all r/c off-road events until Team Losi released the JR-X2 in late 1989 and raised the pole way damn high.

Kyosho now uses the Ultima chassis as the frame for their toy/"hobbyist" line of ready to run models. it's a heartbreaking sight.
