Innovative drum and bass act from Bristol who haved crossed over to wide success. Formed by respected junglists Darren 'Decoder' Beale and Markee 'Substance' Morrison, the duo behind the Breakbeat Culture label, along with Welsh vocalist Sîan Evans. They won Best Single at the 2001 Drum and Bass Awards for Hide U, which was playlisted by Radio 1 in summer 2000. It charted again in 2001 in the form of a terrible remix.

The music can sound a bit radio-friendly and poppy, especially on tracks like Catch, due in no small part to the anthemic quality of Sîan's voice. However, non-single tracks such as Always the Same and Harder are more of a chilled drum and bass feel and all the better for it. That said, the headline tracks are fantastic when performed live, with Sian's charismatic stage presence and powerful voice carrying them well.

Kosheen are a good example of the new directions being taken in drum and bass, and their commercial success is very positive for the genre. They are breaking new ground in what they are doing, and the album is very listenable.
