1928- American Science Fiction author who won the Hugo Award in 1977 for Where Late the Sweet Birds Sang.

She has published thirty novels and a dozen collection of short fiction. Various awards include three Nebula Awards, the Hugo, Prix Apollo(France), and Kurd Lasswitz (Germany). Her work has been adapted for television and movies, and a recent novel, The Good Children is under option by Dream Works SKG. She lived with her husband Damon Knight and family in Eugene, Oregon. Knight is now deceased.
