One of the great female folk music icons of the singer-songwriter era. She has released many platinum albums and had some good hits. Her first big hit was a version of "Both Sides Now" which was written by Joni Mitchell.

Other well known songs include "Some Day Soon", and a version of "Amazing Grace."

She was a child prodigy at classical piano, it seems, but soon was taken with the music of folks like Pete Seeger. She helped make songwriters like Leonard Cohen, Randy Newman, and Joni Mitchell well known.
