Jerry Cornelius

Jerry Cornelius is an avatar of the Eternal Champion. He is featured in many works by Michael Moorcock. Ahead of his time, Moorcock allowed other writers to write their own stories about him.

These four novels have been collected as The Cornelius Chronicles
• The Final Programme 1966 -- This novel is an admitted rewriting of the first Elric novel, and so has mythic resonance beyond the basic story

• The Distant Suns -- collected in the 15-volume reissue of the Eternal Champion books (Volume 8, Sailing to Utopia)

Jerry Cornelius is Shiva and Vishnu. A psychic vampire, a messiah, a destroyer. He is very simailar to Jherek Carnelian in name, manner, and function -- the Eternal Champion with only emotional battles to fight rather than the real, world destroying exploits of an Erekose or Corum or Elric.
