American actor (his terse, macho, decent-man style was often parodied), writer, producer, mogul. He worked in radio, television, and film for several decades, mining (usually) a very narrow milieu. It was Film Noir Lite, but with the twist being that it was from the POV of The Man - law enforcement, armed forces, etc. His most famous work was the TV show Dragnet, which had several incarnations. A pretty good no-frills storyteller, despite the absence of shades of gray.
