A former British Trades Union.

Formed in 1918 as the Institution of Professional Civil Servants in 1969 it absorbed the Society of Technical Civil Servants and in 1984 the Association of Government Supervisors and Radio Operators.

The Union changed its name to the Institution of Professionals Managers and Specialists in 1989 for the simple reason that an increasing proportion of its members were now employed outside the civil service following privatisation. In 2001 it merged with the Engineers and Managers Association to form Prospect.
