I suspect there's a lot of us out there. We go to college, and then end up working there many years later, as a staffer or as faculty.

Drew University in particular has a lot of this. I work with many alumni in my own department, a few of the faculty are alumni as well, and lots of other staff graduated from Drew as well.

Why does this happen? Some would say it's because we don't want to grow up and we wish to continually relive the salad days of our youth. Feh. If you work at a place, it's where you work. I don't party with co-eds anymore. I have responsibilities and staff and projects and when things break I'm in big trouble. Yes, I know the people I work with well because I used to be a student but that was also a long time ago at this point. Places change enough over time that the Drew I work at is no longer the Drew I went to school at. That's a good thing.

At this point, it's just a job. I don't think I'll be at Drew for the rest of my career, and when I leave, I'll do so with no regrets.
