This is also the tag-line from the 1993 Joel Schumacher movie, "Falling Down", starring Michael Douglas.

In the climax, when Predergast (Robert Duvall) faces down William Foster/D-Fens on the pier, and explains everything to him, you suddenly see the realization dawn on William's face. With a mixture of hurt confusion and righteous indignantion, he asks...

"I'm the Bad Guy?"

It may not be one of the most famous lines in the movies, but as far as tag-lines go, it is probably one of the deepest.

I'm the bad guy. I'm that bastard that the main character hates and needs to destroy. I'm the one with the gun and the fast car who steals the girl and wants to destroy the world.

I'm the bad guy.

I'm the one you don't like. I'm not the main character. I'm not even the supportive best friend, or that old lady down the street that helps the main character find their destiny. I'm not the guy driving the cab who takes the main character to the place of their destiny. I'm not a victim. I'm the bad guy.

I'm not trying to take the glory of being bad. Bad is not a good thing. Bad does not somehow, should never somehow, no matter how twisted the universe, it should never be good.

I will end up in prison, or dead. Burnt up in some glorious explosion. My dreams, my hopes, everything will be ripped from me and drawn into the light. The good guy will save the girl and the world. I will lose. The good guy will win. That is how it works. That's the rules.

I hope you're not me. I hope you're the good guy.
