I'm sick of hearing about all this foregone national pride in one's heritige, I'm an
Italain-American, I'm a Irish-American, I'm an African-American, i'm a Chinese- American. You're all
Schmuck-Americans ok. Let's get this straight we're all "Americans" (apologies to readers overseas). It's time we
left those roots behind us and concentrated on being fscking "Americans". We may be "the evil empire" or whatever they're
calling us now, but it's all we got. And if you're a Naturalized citizen, well, welcome to the country, you went to the trouble
of becoming a citizen, don't complain about it, make it a better place to live for all of us. We've got problems just like any other country. I'm not getting into a fight
with some red-headed guy just because my great-grandfather arrived on a different boat.

While I agree in theory LordOmar, practice clouds this issue. African-American is a (stupid) politically correct term for a black American. By that token, I guess I'm a European-American; HOWEVER, people get first crack at naming themselves.

If I refer to someone as a black person and shem tells me, "Hey, I prefer African-American", who am I to tell them they're wrong. When someone calls me an Irish-American, I'll gently say, "No, I'm just American -- thanks." ...unless I think I can get a free beer out of them for having Irish ancestors;)

Someone mind meld to me and say what I mean here.

Also can we get some other Western Hemispherians' complaints on people from the United States' arrogant use of the word American?
