The sky turns a pink, and caramel
The office lights turn off and theChristmas lights turn on
The icicle lights and brightly lit snowmen
The sky gets darker and I know I am one night closer to sleeping next to you.

I look outside the window into the dark
I can see the airplanes flickering in the sky and headlights speeding about
I can see everyone hurrying to see their significant others
The sky gets darker and I know I am hurrying home to an empty bed.

Every night as the sun goes down
My heart misses your soft twinkling
My ears miss your deep voice and my nose misses your subtle scent
My mind tells me you are near in thoughts and it's temporary
The sky gets darker and I know that tomorrow I will miss you more.

I miss the way you smile at me and how peaceful you look when you sleep
I miss the way you brush my hair and how tenderly you kiss my lips.

A day seems like two and a week seems like a month
I know I will see you soon and hear your voice sooner, but I still miss you.
