There are a number of reasons that it seems that it would be likely and even logical for me to say "I quit" here at Everything.

1. Random Downvoting - some of my most well thought out writeups have a negative rep. Why? Were there misspellings? No. Were they badly written? Not as far as I know. Were they out of line? Don't think so. So ... I look at my writeups with the lowest reputation and want to think, "Screw it ... you people don't want quality ... you want me to blend into the woodwork. Or something."

2. A sometimes (even often) elitist flavor in the writeups and Chatterbox conversations from some of the higher ranking noders that leaves me wondering if I stumbled into a junior high classroom on the Internet.

3. Catty nodeshells like DMan is starting up a group to kill all liberals and Saige is a stupid cunt detract from the quality that originally attracted me to this site - this crap is a waste of not only MY time, but of everyone's.

However, I have one really, really good reason to NOT quit:

Because I can change it.

Because of the way that Everything2 is structured, I can change or at least help change every damn thing that I don't like about this place. I can encourage happy voting or, at least, thoughtful voting. I can rise about the petty bullshit that can be the most frustrating part of this show. I can do better.

I can do better than just giving in and giving up.

So can you.
