Howler Monkeys (alouatta caraya) are primates of the family Cebidae. They are the loudest land animals (their bellows can be heard up to three miles away). They live mostly in Central and northern South America.

Their diet in the wild consists mainly of leaves, flowers, fruits and maggots. However, they often live near human towns and will eat most any non-meat product that humans give them. In fact, howlers are the most widely distributed and adaptable of Central American monkeys, since they are able to occupy small, isolated areas of forest.
