August Horch began the Horch company in 1899 which existed as one of many other german automobile manufacturers. This company was one of the four founding companies to merge to form Auto Union AG. NSU merged later on March 10th, 1969 to form Audi NSU Auto Union AG. Audi NSU Auto Union AG shortened their name to Audi AG and remains to this year (2003).
