A Middle Eastern sweet which transcends the many races and religions of the region. Halva is made primarily of finely ground sesame seeds mixed with a sweet liquid such as rice malt, corn malt, or honey. The ground seeds and sweet liquid is mixed and shaped into blocks, which are sometimes covered in chocolate. Halva goes particularly well with black coffee. It can be found at most delis and Middle Eastern markets around the world.
