A game described in the book "Winning Ways". The game begins with a network of edges resting upon the ground. In the simplest version, Blue-Red Hackenbush, each edge is either red or blue. The players, Left and Right, alternate removing an edge. Left may only remove blue edges, while Right may only remove red edges. After an edge has been removed, any unsupported parts of the network disappear. The winner is the last person to make a move.

More complicated versions of Hackenbush are Blue-Red-Green Hackenbush, in which there are green edges which either player may remove, and Childish Hackenbush, in which edges may not be removed if this would cause other edges to disappear.
