Part of the Appalachian Mountain Range located on the border between Tennessee and North Carolina. The Great Smoky Mountains are a favorite among mountain hiking enthusiasts and history buffs alike. Popular attractions such as Cades Cove reveal the hard-working life of the early farmers and settlers of the region while the numerous trailheads and the Appalachian Trail provide hikers with a nearly endless variety of choices.

If one can tolerate the traffic and prefers a nice, cozy hotel rather than a trail campground, then Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee are both excellently located in the area.
