Grantaire is a minor character in Les Miserables, the ponderous novel by Victor Hugo. He delivers various amusing drunken tirades, and functions as a foil to the heroic, if foolhardy, Enjolras.
In the several movie adaptations of Les Miserables, he generally disappears, while in the musical he achieves semi-prominence.
