(to the tune of The Stranglers' Golden Brown)

Tony Blair's losing support
But next door, chancellor Gordon is
Biding his time,
Waiting in line,
Next for the crown
Is Gordon Brown.

Gordon Brown, he'll save the day.
Ask him how - he'll be evasive,
Goes to G8
The poor will still wait,
Hard to pin down
Is Gordon Brown.

Public services must bring results.
Lay off staff, bring in consultants
And more PFI
Pie in the sky,
Never a frown
From Gordon Brown.

Instrumental

Gordon Brown's budget brought hope.
Wonder how we'll cope with his borrowing -
Wages may drop
Are you for the chop?
We'll swim or drown
With Gordon Brown.

(coda to fade)
Never a frown
Don't let us drown
We'll swim or drown
Never a frown ...

These lyrics were written by my sister, from an idea I gave her, and the song is currently doing the rounds in the Manchester folk scene.
