Goju-Ryu is a style of karate developed in Okinawa. Its main principle is a combination of hard and soft, like the famous yin and yang. Because no one can expect to be the strongest or the fastest person, a goju-ryu student will use a soft technique to redirect the opponent's power, for example, and alternately counterstrike with a hard, crushing blow.
Goju-Ryu is the style of karate that Ralph Macchio used in the movie Karate Kid.
