The idea of prophecy opens up several ideological cans of worms - if prophets' gifts are what they seem, doesn't that mean that temporal events are in some way predetermined or predestined? Where is free will in a predestined world? How can a predestined biological automaton be held accountable for its actions, good or evil, by a loving and merciful God?
