There was a fascinating syndicated show made in Canada a few years ago called Forever Knight. It was about this 800-year-old vampire named Nick Knight who felt really bad about having killed so many people and is doing his level but pathetically&inadequate best to repay society for his sins - as a homicide detective in Toronto. Sounds goofy but it was actually truly wonderful. Ger was the guy who played him... a blond cherub of a vampire. Lovely guy.
