In case this is not a troll: consider, for a second, that you want to measure the distance between the Earth
and Proxima Centauri
--- still care to use a ruler
Do you like your bridge
s, your house
, your supermarket
to stand up or crash to the ground ? Remember that they are designed with very concrete physic
rules, that heavily use ... geometry
. And calculus
, of course.
It is a pity that, when studying basic geometry, people are normally exposed to silly examples and kind-of-pointless exercise
s: nonetheless, one has to practice in order to learn.
I don't want to sound snotty, but to have someone know what Cat5 cable is and not understand the importance of geometry is a symptom of a sick education system.
