A distributed computing network consisting of nodes spread across an entire galaxy. Each node is either a convential computer or an artificial intelligence. A concept taken from many science fiction stories. With the interstellar lag, each piece would esentially be self-contained, yet on the whole a galaxy brain would be cooperative.
