A TV show that briefly ran on CBS; it was probably one of the best American television series ever. The node-sized take: the tale of an African-American Brown University professor who returns to New Orleans to run the restaurant bequeathed to
him by his late father. The writing, for which it won an Emmy, was first-rate. In a Hollywood that green-lights and cranks out black-by-numbers sitcoms, this show was, perhaps, a bit too inscrutable for the suits to handle.
