With Bonfire Night quickly approaching us British noders, I thought it would be appropriate to node the Firework Code. These are instructions regarding the safe use of fireworks issued by the English Government. Remember kiddies, play safely:

  • Buy fireworks that meet BS 7114 from a shop you know, and keep them in a closed, box.
  • Follow the specific instructions on each firework.
  • Light fireworks at arm's length using a taper, never a naked flame.
  • Always stand well back.
  • Never go back to a firework once it's been lit.
  • Never put fireworks in a pocket.
  • Never throw fireworks.
  • Always light sparklers one at a time and wear gloves to hold them.
  • Never give sparklers to a child under five.
  • Keep pets indoors.

Produced by the Consumer Safety Unit of the UK Department of Trade and Industry. Never give children unsafe, imported fireworks. Always follow the firework code.
