Parton, Sara Payson Willis, "Fanny Fern," an American essay-writer,
sister of N.P. Willis, and wife of James Parton; born in Portland, Me., July 9, 1811. She has said to have contributed an article each week for 16 years to the New York "Ledger." She died in 1872.
