FUNET is the
Finnish University Network. It connects most of the Finnish academic networks, and also some other sites (such as Bank of Finland and Parliament of Finland).
FUNET's own FTP site (ftp.funet.fi) is rather popular. It has mirrors of many other FTP sites and also has a lot of Linux software. It was once (and for many parts still is) the number one site where the Linux kernel can be downloaded.
