One of the three phyla of protists that have cholorplasts. Euglenoids consist of about 800 species of algal protists. The most common genus is Euglena. They have both plant and animal like traits. They live in fresh water. Like plants, they use to process of photosynthesis to make thier food. However, they have no cell wall and are able to move about like animals through the use of flagella. Its ancestors are believed to be one of the first organsims who used the process of photosynthesis by using chloroplasts.
