E*te"sian (?), a. [L. etesiae, pl., periodic winds, Gr. , fr. year: cf. F. 'et'esien.] Periodical; annual; -- applied to winds which annually blow from the north over the Mediterranean, esp. the eastern part, for an irregular period during July and August.
