Education International is the world-wide federation of teaching and education trade unions. A total of some 311 national teaching trade unions in 159 countries are affiliated to the organisation, representing a total of around 25 million members making it the world's largest Global Union Federation. It is responsible in conjuction with UNESCO for sponsoring World Teachers' Day, which this year is on 5 October 2002 with the theme "Teachers Create Dialogue Every Day", which sounds very worthy.
