A group of (presumably bored) students at RPI, who, for a period of time in 1992 and 1993, were famous for dropping various items from the top of a 9 story stairwell in one of the RPI campus's buildings. The various items include:
  • A telephone
  • Jack-O-Lanterns filled with various substances
  • A broken desk chair
  • A fully decorated Christmas Tree
  • Paper Airplanes
  • Tape from a cassette
  • 200 Tennis balls
  • A few lp's
  • A few hundred copies of the school's newspaper
  • A coffee machine & pot full of ground coffee and peanut shells
  • A typewriter
  • 125 McDonalds hamburgers
The drop squad eventually was forced to split up, when one of the members confessed what they had done, and who was involved.

The exploits can be seen at http://www.dropsquad.com

Of course, their creative genius hasn't gone unnoticed. Rumors of drop squads consiting of bored college students have crept up across various colleges throughout the nation.

There are a few items that would make great dropping material, should any one attempt to do this. And if anyone does attempt any drops, node the results!
