The Dohada Purana was a spring fertility festival performed in ancient India. It is still performed among some isolated groups in parts of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Girls "mated" with fruit trees in sacred gardens called Nandavanas by kicking them. This was supposed to make the trees blossom and the girls bear healthy children.
