(1945 - ) Mason is a singer and guitarist best known for his work with Steve Winwood and Jim Capaldi in the band Traffic, but has also performed with the Rolling Stones (Beggar's Banquet), Jimmy Hendrix (guitar in All along the watchtower on Electric Ladyland), Cass Eliott, and Fleetwood Mac (1993 - 1996).

Mason never enjoyed commercial success after leaving Traffic, but his albums are forgotten classics. Welcome to the Canteen, a traffic reunion of sorts, features some amazing Mason jams. I used to think Winwood had once been funky, and was the responsible for the part of the Traffic sound that I enjoyed, but I've since discovered that it's Mason. His alubm with Mama Cass kicks ass.
