The first cybercafe, Cyberia on Whitfield Street in London, was set up by Eva Pascoe and Gene Teare in September 1994.

The term cybercafe was coined by Heath Bunting, the street artist, net artist and activist who also first registered the domain cybercafe.com (selling it a few years later).
