A fake product advertised in a fake commercial on Saturday Night Live on October 2, 1993. The complete script is at http://snltranscripts.jt.org/scripts/93bcrystalgravy.phtml. I won't quote it here, but the basic idea was a reaction to the flood of clear foodstuffs saturating the market in the early 90's. The idea was that clear was pure and better for you somehow. So crystal gravy was shown being poured over meat and mashed potatoes and one of those tacky voiceovers was saying things like, "Finally You Can See Your Meat" and ranting about how good something that you eat AND is clear must be.

I think it was shortly after this that Crystal Pepsi stopped being made, and in general, I think this was the beginning of the end of the clear products movement.
